*Position Summary: Legal Counsel - We are looking for a talented lawyer to join our Corporate Legal team in Seoul, Korea. In this role, you will play crucial role in supporting our team deliver fast and practical solutions for a wide range of legal issues, including business development, commercial transactions, and corporate structure. - As a Legal Counsel, you will utilize your expertise in legal and compliance regarding BASF business and enable business leaders in Korea to achieve our goals and tasks while securing the Company from major legal, compliance and reputational risks. - The successful candidate should be comfortable in counseling business partners and making decisions that have both legal and business impacts. *Key Responsibilities and Main Tasks: - Act as the Company’s in-house legal manager reporting to local Legal Director. - Provide legal advice on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters to support operational divisions and corporate centers, including (1) drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and filing various contracts and documents, (2) regulatory compliance matters, (3) dispute management, (4) corporate governance and (5) transactional activities. - Advise all operational divisions and corporate centers on day-to-day legal issues. - Monitor and advise on current regulations and future legislation that impact BASF Korea, including anti-competition, labor law, safety regulations, data privacy, chemical management, etc. - Advise and assist in handling governmental investigation and enforcement mattes. - Assist in creating and implementing adequate legal or compliance trainings and/or programs for local regulations and corporate policies. - Handle and manage Company’s governance matters (e.g. Shareholder’s meeting, etc.). - Assist in handling commercial disputes or litigation. *Academic and Professional Qualifications: - Qualified lawyer in Korea, with relevant working experience of 5 ? 8 years preferred. - Fluent in both written and spoken English/ native level of Korean *Work Experience - Relevant legal experience, preferably at a leading law firm or in-house legal department. - Prior experience in a few of the following areas preferred: advising and supporting commercial transactions, M&A, deal structuring, anti-trust, data privacy and regulatory compliance. - Proficiency in both English and Korean, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong analytical capabilities and sound judgment. - Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively with the internal business partners. *Required Competencies - A team player with good interpersonal and communicative skills, keen to interact with and understand the needs of diverse group of people. - Commercial awareness with ability to apply legal knowledge and work effectively across all levels of matrixed organization within a dynamic commercial environment. - Knowledge of Korean commercial, anti-corruption, labor, safety and competition law principles preferred. - Contract drafting and advisory skills. - Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment. - Respectful, open-minded and a strong team player.
