MAJOR
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Working
closely with the regional and local Legal and Compliance teams on the following
matters: Legal: ·
Provide management with
effective legal advice on the Company’s business and strategies. ·
Identify, manage and
escalate potential legal risks in the Company, including employment, data and
insurance regulatory issues. ·
Analyze the reputational,
commercial and legal implications of all Company activities to ensure that they
are conducted within and compliant with existing legal frameworks. ·
Drafting of agreements
including, but not limited to, distribution, services, employment, IT, data
sharing and supply agreements. ·
Manage any litigation
involving the Company, including supervising the preparation of briefs,
complaints, motions, and other relevant court documents. ·
Manage all regulatory
correspondence and relationships on behalf of the Company, including overseeing
all regulatory inspections and inquiries. ·
Manage and coordinate the
activities of the Legal & Compliance Department and ensure that they are
within budget and in line with Company strategy. ·
Select and oversee the
work of external counsel. ·
Identify applicable laws
and regulations, and communicate relevant legal requirements to business owners
and oversee compliance with those requirements. ·
Work closely with regional
and global Legal and Compliance to ensure timely and accurate escalation of
matters. Compliance:
·
Effectively implement and
maintain Compliance Framework at a local level to ensure compliance and
ongoing promotion of a compliance culture throughout the business. ·
Oversee compliance of
ethical conduct, conflict of interests, and operational principles. ·
Develop and oversee
control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and
internal policies and procedures. ·
Responsible for overseeing
maintenance and updating of all current policies and procedures of the Company,
including required briefings for Company stakeholders. ·
Conduct appropriate
compliance monitoring checks to ensure effective implementation of current
policies and procedures, including the preparation of compliance reports. ·
Escalate violations of
compliance or regulatory standards to regional Legal and Compliance, local
management and other stakeholders as appropriate or required. Knowledge,
Skills and Competencies ·
Excellent communication
skills in both written and spoken Korean and English. ·
A business acumen
partnered with a dedication to legal excellence. ·
Ability to work
independently in a fast-paced environment. ·
Diligent, results-oriented
and driven by business objectives. ·
Highly adaptable and able
to work with different stakeholders at local, regional and global levels. ·
Possesses an analytical
mind and has experience dealing with regulators, insurance associations,
business partners and other external parties.
Qualifications
and Experience ·
Degree in Law ·
Called to the Korean bar ·
Minimum 10 to 15 years’
experience in Legal and Compliance ·
Insurance industry
experience highly preferred; other financial services experience advantageous ·
In-depth knowledge of
local and international business standards, best practices and external
regulations
