Reports to: Second Secretary and Consul

Position title: Temporary Consular and Passport Officer

Position number: SE017

Position level and Salary: Locally Engaged 3 level with a salary of KRW 43,182,984 per annum

Employment period: This is a temporary position available from June 2023 to mid-September 2024, with the possibility of extension.

                                    There will be 3-month probation period.

Requirements

Other Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to provide a police security clearance certificate and undergo a medical examination to determine fitness for duty.


Key Responsibilities

    ·  Provide notarial, consular and passport services assistance to Australian citizens in accordance with Australian Government guidelines and legislation.

    ·  Liaise with clients including responding to general consular and passport enquiries, case management and information requests.

    ·  Maintain passport records and regular archiving of passport applications and documentation.

    ·  Establish, develop, and maintain strong working relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders including with Korean authorities, officials, and agencies.

    ·  Act as a sub-cashier in accordance with financial policy and regulations.

    ·  Perform other duties and provide back-up Receptionist support as directed.


Position Requirements 

Competencies

    ·  The ability to undertake consular and passport services including providing consular assistance to Australian citizens and the processing of passport applications.

    ·  A high level of interpersonal skills with a client service focus and the ability to deal with difficult situations, including consular crises.

    ·  A high level of fluency in spoken and written Korean and English, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

    ·  The ability to prioritise tasking and manage workflow in a high-pressure environment, often within tight deadlines.

    ·  The ability to work cooperatively, efficiently, and flexibly as a member of a small team.

Special Requirements 

    ·  Previous experience as a Consular and Passport officer in a Diplomatic mission.

    ·  Previous experience dealing with Korean Government Agencies on a range of issues.
